Sala grew up around a silver mine discovered in 1510. The only interest of the break, a descent into this shaft of more than 200 m deep. In 1526, King Gustav Vasa granted the mine, where silver abounded, royal regulations and privileges, the sovereign wanting to replenish the coffers. The work, which was constantly pushed further underground, resulted in the extraction of 10,000 tons of this precious metal.
