Sigtuna, a small town of about ten thousand inhabitants, is located 40 km from Stockholm and is a delightful excursion on sunny days. Located on the northern shores of Lake Mälaren, it is the oldest city in the kingdom of Sweden. Its foundations date back to the 10th century, and lovers of medieval history will find many traces of a rich past: several ruined churches erect their bell towers on the heights of the city, rune stones abound, the local museum exhibits a rich collection of objects dating back more than a thousand years and familiarizes the curious with the evolution of the municipality over the centuries.
