At the intersection of Lake Slijan and the Dalälven River, this town of about 6,000 inhabitants is located in the heart of a forest region, and lives mainly from the wood industry. But the city is especially known for its peasant paintings. The river that winds between the hills, the pretty two-story white wooden houses, the streets lined with birch trees, and many green spaces give it a softness that contrasts with the austerity of the cities located further north. But Leksand falls asleep, like all the cities located in the heart of Sweden, as soon as the stores close... However, the Hembygdsgården museum can be discovered.
