Travel Guide Ådalen

During a very large strike in 1932, thousands of workers who had been mobilising for months decided to march on Lund, so that their demands would finally be heard. At the same time, the public prosecutor received a telephone call from Härnösand saying that the prefecture had accepted the demands of the strikers who were moving to Ådalen. The strikers were not informed in time, and the military opposed the progress of the demonstrators; five people were killed and five others injured. In memory of the repression in Ådalen, a statue has been unveiled in Lund.Another tribute is the film Ådalen 31, directed by Bo Widerberg in 1969.
