Ajman lies on the edge of the Arabian Gulf, with 12 kilometers of coastline. It grew up near an inland arm of the sea (Ajman Khor), which serves as a natural harbor. It is home to the Emir's residence, the government and corporate headquarters. Ajman is known for its long tradition and expertise in dhow building and its historic center; and its beautiful museum housed in the late 18th-century fort is a visit not to be missed. To the north of the city, the Al Zorah nature reserve awaits you, with its mangrove forest covering 1 million km². Recently, the city has been undergoing a major metamorphosis to become a top tourist destination and to attract new investors, with the construction of a new marina, several hotels, the enhancement of its beaches and the renovation of its historic center.
