A sleepy city which was nevertheless the first capital of the kingdom of Denmark. A short-lived glory that lasted barely a century. At that time, the territory of what was already called Denmark, extended over the entire Jutland peninsula, starting from Ejderen. This capital was replaced by Roskilde. Today, this municipality of less than 3,500 inhabitants is the object of a national cult, as it is considered to be the founding place of the country. The site, which includes the famous stones classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, the royal mounds and the new museum, reveal the secrets of this Danish historical myth.
