An industrial city by the sea, it is linked by the Frederick IX bridge, which spans the Guldborg Strait, to the island of Lolland. Inaugurated in 1963, it has the particularity of having two bascules. It's quite impressive when the deck rises in front of you! The city was born from the presence of a fortress (end of 12th century) watching over the sea lanes, which later became the residence for the widowed queens. From the cornice of the city centre, visitors can go for a walk in the evening, admire the sunset, eat and go to the cinema. The Franciscan church, Klosterkirken, remains from the former convent founded by Eric of Pomerania.
