The village, located inland, was once part of the province of Viborg. In 2007, several municipalities, including Spøttrup, merged to form the municipality of Skive, which has about 20,000 inhabitants. One of the reasons to visit Middelalderborg is that it is the best preserved medieval castle of its time in Denmark. It looks like something out of an Andersen fairy tale, built in the middle of a moat surrounded by embankments and ditches, and connected to the mainland by an old drawbridge. A bucolic stopover 8 km from the town. A route to be taken by bike, a very pleasant ride in the countryside, far from the crowds and noise.
