The town of Bicaz itself is of little interest. Its small history museum will tell you more about the creation of the lake to the north of the town. Called Bicaz or Izvoru Muntelui, it is the result of the construction of a power plant. The 120-metre-high dam was built in the 1950s and led to the disappearance and displacement of many villages. Today, the 35 km-long lake is ideal for all kinds of water sports. The views all around are superb. From Bicaz, the road continues towards Gheorgheni, through the Bicaz Gorge, the most beautiful in the country, or up towards the Ceahlău massif (the right bank is more convenient if you don't want to reach the massif): these roads offer breathtaking scenery.
