Thanks to its climate and limestone soil, it's a renowned wine-growing center, where the famous Dealu Mare is produced. It was also in this village of 3,000 inhabitants that the treasure of Pietroasa was discovered in 1837. Made up of gold and precious stones, it was buried in 375 by the Visigoth king Athanaric. It is now on display at the National History Museum in Bucharest.
