A picturesque town by the ocean, it takes its name from a large white rock rising from West beach. The Semiahmoo First Nations people maintained a sacred legend for this rock, which you can discover at the local museum. Its colourful waterfront, long pier, beaches, hiking trails and fine restaurants attract visitors year-round. The White Rock's promenade is a popular walk for visitors and locals alike, right on the beach and close to the main attractions. The Peace Arch Park marks the U.S. border and is also a border crossing point. The Peace Arch was built in 1921 to commemorate peace between the two countries.
