Travel Guide Atenis Sioni

This close to Gori, it could be hundreds of light years away. The church of Atenis Zioni has stopped time, or almost. The road leading to it takes a beautiful, wild valley, passing through villages where life flows undisturbed. In the heart of the Triatli Mountains, we follow the Tana river, and we gradually immerse ourselves in the mountain atmosphere. At the bottom of the valley, in this superb setting, nothing seems to have really changed over the centuries. The Atenis Sioni church rises up, a reproduction of the cathedral of Mtskheta, magnificent, in a rocky setting, still untouched by the tourist waves.
