All we can say about Icon is that we love their selection of ceramic objects. It's impossible not to walk in when you pass their window. The store isn't very big, but there's plenty to choose from, and not just ceramics. There are also accessories and small objects of all kinds. You'll be warmly welcomed and advised if you wish. Most of the things you'll see are by Portuguese designers. Across the street is their art gallery, where you can see a variety of exhibitions.

VISTA ALEGRE

Since 1824, this has been the great name in hand-painted Portuguese porcelain. The collections are well worth a look, and prices are incredibly low compared to those in Limoges. Just for fun, explore the many lines inspired by Old China motifs or beautiful Portuguese decoration. Vista Alegre makes special services for crowned heads, but has also opened Casa Alegre, a chain dedicated to small budgets featuring several lines of really nice tableware found in shopping malls.

A concept straight out of Porto. This store cultivates the art of beautiful things, offering decorative and cooking products in fine materials such as leather, cork and wood. Its specialty is "tabuas", olive wood trays. Perfect for setting up tables of cheeses or charcuterie brought back from Lisbon, to share with friends. They also offer a personalization service, should you wish to make a gift, for example.
