In 1947, Father Breuil, a great French préhistorien, made the trip. The Patriarch of the Liguori now disappeared (we met him here in 1994) was happy to tell how, a little boy, he led the expert on a donkey's back in the tall grass. So Angelo had agreed to take the path with us, to the secret cave where one of the finest rock paintings in the country hid. For the small or the great history, the Liguori belong to a large Neapolitan family who honour themselves to count in its ranks Saint Alphonse-Marie de Liguori (1696-1787), the founder of the congregation of the Great-Saint-Redeemer and a prominent ambassador of King Ferdinand 1 st of Bourbon-Sicily. Tandjesberg is now registered with national monuments and is easier to access. However, since the property is private, you need to call before travelling (Tel 051 924 2036/2475). About 11 km north of Ladybrand, Ferme farm, via R 26 towards Clocolan, then the right-hand track opposite the cheese factory on km to the left of the area, next to a small church.
