This fantastic reserve, crossed by the White Umfolozi and Black Umfolozi rivers, covers more than 50,000 hectares of shrubby savannah. Half of the area is only accessible to walkers accompanied by an armed guide. By car, one can follow the Umfolozi Mosaic Auto Trail for 67 km. Classified as a nature reserve in 1895, Umfolozi is linked to the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, the whole forming the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park. Lions, leopards, zebras, antelopes, giraffes, elephants and rhinoceroses live here, as well as thousands of birds (300 species). The reserve is home to the largest population of white rhino in the world. The lions are miraculous.
