In the Free State, the small village of Clarens, named after the place where President Kruger died in Switzerland in 1904, lies quietly in the heart of the Rooiberg Massif, beneath the lofty stature of Mount Horeb, which rises to 2,449 metres. Nestled in the hollow of the mountains, Clarens is full of pretty painting galleries, coffee shops where you can stop for a break and souvenir shops where you can find the perfect item to take home in your suitcase, all in one single street that runs through the village! The surroundings invite you to go on beautiful hikes in the mountains to get a good view of the landscape.
