Don't be surprised if you go round in circles; this strange agglomeration was created in 1949 on the model of an oxcart wheel. Again, the laager syndrome, which is part of the white history of this country! Seen from the air, it's quite amazing. Malelane is surrounded by huge sugar cane fields. Its original name eMlalani comes from the Swazi language and meant "the place of palm trees". The region also produces fruit and vegetables. North of the Kruger National Park, the small town renamed Malalane in 2007 and formerly a stopover between Pretoria and Maputo is now a gateway to the savannah and the Big Five
