About 20 kilometres from Santander on the N-623, this village of about 5,000 inhabitants is made up of a dozen small neighbourhoods such as La Tejera, Los Enserados and Las Cuartas. It can be reached by train from Santander, Torrelavega, Palencia and Valladolid. There are houses with coats of arms, especially in the neighbourhood around the church, and wooden balconies covered with drying clothes, corn cobs or geraniums. The locality is also home to an important dairy factory, which generates many jobs. However, there is a real gentle way of life here, which deserves a little rest.
