Segovia, 90 km northwest of Madrid, is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. Unesco declared it a World Heritage Site in 1985. It is simply the urban center with the largest number of Romanesque monuments in all of Europe. Situated at an altitude of 1,001 meters, the city is located at the confluence of the rivers Eresma and Clamores, on a limestone hill that overlooks a large cereal plain. The climate is cold, but invigorating in winter and at a good temperature during the hot Castilian summer.
