30 km before El Burgo de Osma, coming from Soria, there is a detour to the right that goes to Calatañazor, El Castillo del Azor. The whole village is frozen in history and is an artistic historical ensemble featured in Orson Welles' film, Bells at Midnight. In El Burgo de Osma, you should enter the cathedral to admire a codex, the Beato del Burgo de Osma, with wonderful Mozarabic illustrations displayed in the sacristy (1086) and the Gothic cloister completed in 1515. The city also preserves a valuable medieval heritage, one of the best preserved in the province. Don't miss the Plaza Mayor, lined with beautiful 18th-century houses. The SO-920 road connects El Burgo to Ucero and San Leónardo de Yagüe. On the side of the road, in an old mill near the Lobos River, is the information center of the Cañon del Río Lobos Natural Park. Leaving it, continue towards San Leónardo until you reach the viewpoint of La Galiana, where you can get the best overall view. Back on the road, we go back to the right to take the junction of the marked path that follows the course of the river for 2 km. It is then necessary to leave the vehicle to the carpark and to continue on foot. One kilometer away, a marvelous place is hidden, the San Bartolomé hermitage, in a meander of the river. The 12th century Romanesque church was part of the monastery of San Juan de Otero, which belonged to the Templar order. An easy 10 km walking route follows the course of the river at the bottom of the canyon. It starts at the hermitage and ends at the Puente de los Siete Ojos.
