Known as the literary birthplace of Dulcinea, Don Quixote's lover, this town of more than 1,600 inhabitants has many charming corners and traditional dry masonry buildings with whitewashed walls. The house of Ana Martínez Zarco, which has been associated with the character, was restored in the rural style of the 16th century. The town hall has editions of Don Quixote in more than thirty languages. The French army, respecting its cultural prestige, would not have dared to attack it during the War of Independence. There are different routes around the place. Information. Tourist Office: Calle Daóiz y Velarde, 3.
