This city of more than 13,000 inhabitants is located in a strategic place, on the border between Madrid, the Levant and Andalusia. Its Plaza Mayor is among the most beautiful in the country. It was built in 1777 under the influence of King Carlos III (who was responsible for many of Madrid's monuments). It is rectangular, with 70 arches. Its center has been declared of historical interest.
