In the north of the province of Guadalajara, this sleepy little town of less than 5,000 inhabitants is home to a magnificent cathedral. Unfortunately captured by Franco's troops in 1936, the city was long exposed to fighting. Despite this, the post-war years saw the rebuilding of the cathedral, the Plaza Mayor and the Bishops' Castle, which was transformed into a parador. The latter was built in the 8th century, after the Arab invasion, at the same time as the fortress. In 1965, the rich heritage of this beautiful city in the north of the province of Guadalajara was declared a historic and artistic site.
