Opened in 1975, the small, family-friendly ski resort of Vallter 2000 is framed by high mountains that can climb to 2,800 metres. It has the charm of a winter resort on a human scale, and the slopes - of varying levels - are rarely overcrowded, apart from during the winter vacations. If you take the gondola up to the little snack bar at Les Marmottes, at 2,535 meters above sea level, where you'll also find the source of the Ter and Freser rivers, you can catch a glimpse of the Bay of Roses on a fine day.
