Topolia marks the beginning of the gorge of the same name. The road runs in height. With a width of 1,5 km, vertical walls reach 300 m high in places with countless caves. Explorers… to your torches! After a tunnel, before Koutsamatados, on the right of the road, lies the grotto of Agia Sofia. The access is either at the first tavern by a staircase on the stairs or at the second tavern (Panorama) by a more rustic trail. The cave has impressive stalactites and stalagmites and was inhabited in Neolithic times (6 000 BC). A small chapel dedicated to Agia Sofia is inserted in the cave. From the entrance, you have a magnificent view of the gorges.
