It is the big rock that plunges at the eastern end of Anafi, and at the top of which stands the impressive monastery of Pano Kalamiotissa. The climb is long and difficult, but you will be rewarded with an extraordinary view of a breathtaking landscape in a mystical calm. In 1700, the French botanist of Louis XIV, Joseph Pitton de Tournefort, described Mount Kalamos as "one of the most appalling rocks in the world. "Indeed, some people describe the ascent of this rock as a unique, almost sacred experience. The monastery is unfortunately closed, but it is inconceivable to go to Anafi without climbing it
