Once populated by luxurious second homes, Kifissia welcomed politicians and wealthy families for cool vacations. Then reserved for an elite, the development of the urban transport network allowed its development. Today Kifissia has become an upscale suburb of northern Athens. You can get there by following Kifissias Avenue, from Vassilis Sofias, to its end. Villas and low-rise buildings encroach on the nature of Mount Pendeli and new neighborhoods such as Ekali, Nea Erythrea or Politia, all equally residential. The center of this very chic town, essentially commercial, enjoys a heterogeneous architecture composed of magnificent and grandiose villas, surrounded by green gardens, squared by high hedges. The alleys are wide and wooded, with wide sidewalks, a luxury in Greece! Some of them are the work of great architects of the early 19th century, such as the Atlantis of Ernst Ziller. Stroll along the streets and, if necessary, stand on your tiptoes to see the houses hidden behind the gates. Every year in the spring, a large flower show is held in the Kifissia Park. The Kifissia Flower Show features an impressive diversity of over 5,000 different species and offers a thousand gardening and balcony design tips. All year round, Athenians, and especially many groups of young people, come and enjoy spending whole afternoons shopping.
