The monastery is easily accessible by taxi from Quseya, a small town served by bus and train from El-Minya and Asyut. Caution: check with the Cairo Coptic Patriarchate to be sure to find its doors open. The monastery is occupied by about 100 monks and welcomes thousands of pilgrims during ceremonies that take place in June and August. If you stop over in this city, don't miss visiting its covered market. Similarly, you can reach the oasis of El-Kharga from Asyut, although it is now recommended to take the new El-Kharga-Louxor road.
