Gabrovo is not a popular tourist destination, but it is a pleasant base camp in the center of a region rich in places to visit. The name of the city comes from a tree (hornbeam) found in the region - gabar. It is a small industrial town, known for the sense of humor of its inhabitants. Every year, on the third weekend of May, an international festival of humor is held, which has a carnival-like atmosphere. It is also the city of twenty bridges, the oldest of which dates back to 1855, the Bayov Bridge. If you do not have a car, a bus will take you from Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv, Pleven, Varna, Rousse or Sofia. The train is not frequent.
