"Here begins Brazil", they say in Oiapoque. Border town with Guyana, 10 minutes by catraia (small boat) from Saint-Georges, the village is 600 km from Macapá. Little Martinique, as it was called, has always been the place of passage for adventurers, especially garimpeiros (gold diggers). Nowadays, people come here to shop at low prices and to enjoy the festive atmosphere. The crossing Saint-Georges - Oiapoque costs about 10 €. If you spend the night there, remember to get your passport stamped at the police station located on the bridge (count a few R$ for the motorcycle cab ride), or in the city.
