Created on the remains of a former penitentiary abandoned in 1863 and accessible by road, this small town lives quietly during the day and is loved at night. One comes here especially to immerse oneself in an atmosphere nourished by strong traditions. The population is very warm, forged from the exchanges between the people of the river living on both banks of the second most important Guyanese river: the Oyapock, natural border with Brazil. From Cayenne, take the road to Regina and count 3 hours. The road is good, but winding until Regina; then if it becomes much straighter, it is strewn with many holes. Be careful!
