Twin city of Petrópolis, named after Empress Teresa, the wife of Dom Pedro II, is located at 870 m of altitude. It has a very limited interest, but is the gateway to the Serra dos Orgãos National Park, a magnificent park for hiking and climbing. It is a region that will be appreciated by the amateurs of trekking and mountain walks. The best season to practice them is from May to August, when the climate is drier and relatively cool. The summer season is more suitable for swimming in the natural pools and waterfalls that abound in the area.
