Perched at 840 meters above sea level, it is one of the most frequented mountain towns by the Carioca "gente bonita" because of its historical past and invigorating climate. There are many traces of its imperial past, when the court installed in Rio was looking for cool places to stay. It is located in the Serra da Estrela, 65 km north of Rio de Janeiro. An important gastronomic festival is held there during the first week of December. Unfortunately, the city was damaged by destructive floods whose consequences are still unknown.
