The Ibitipoca park, located in the south of Minas Gerais (270 km from Rio and 350 from Belo Horizonte), offers about 1,500 hectares of beautiful forests, waterfalls, caves and mountains. It can be visited in one day or over several days of hiking (a local guide is strongly recommended). The park is famous for the colour of the water in the rivers and lakes: red water (also called Coca-Cola colour) due to the presence of iron ore and the tannin in the leaves of the trees, which makes it an attraction. The Janela do Ceu waterfall is considered the most beautiful in the park.
