Anagni is known for the event that concretized the rupture between Pope Boniface VIII and Philip the Fair. The attack of Anagni, as it is called, took place when the king of France, who wanted to organize a coup de force against the pope, sent a delegation led by Sciarra Colonna in 1303. A political adversary of Boniface VIII, Colonna slapped the pope who, humiliated to the utmost, never recovered. Legend has it that he even died a month later! In the village, we will discover the palace of Boniface VIII as well as the town hall. The cathedral of the XIth century is also to see, in particular for its crypt
