On the coast, even more west than Soli, lies the palace of Vouni. It was built in the Fifth century BC by the King of Marion, Doxandros (allied to the Persians), partly to supervise the activities of the Greeks of Soli that the King had just conquered. What remains today is very little, since it was quickly attacked and destroyed. We go through the foundations by recognizing an altar, a temple, tanks that fed the baths, and imagine what the building was. But above all we admire the site, at the top of a hill offering beautiful views over Morfou bay, the mountains of Troodos and Beşparmak and the plain that separates them.Practice: Open from 9 a. m. to 17 p. m. in summer and from 9 p. m. to 13 p. m. and 14 p. m. to 16 p. m. in winter. Closed on public holidays.
