You don't end up on the beautiful beaches of Kato Pyrgos by chance. This is the most isolated village in the southern zone. Kato Pyrgos is wedged between the sea to the north, the Troodos massif to the south, the Kokkina/Erenköy enclave to the west and the northern zone to the east. Since 2010, connections have been facilitated by the opening of the Kato Pyrgos-Limnitis crossing point (see Lefka/Lefke in the "North Cyprus" chapter). Once there, you'll discover beautiful views over the bay of Morfou and a form of "old-fashioned" tourism that's very appealing: no big hotel complexes, tavernas by the beach, locals not blasé about visitors... The surrounding area also offers some pleasant spots, such as Cape Kokkina with its Omega beach (2.5 km west of the center), the village of Pigenia (4.5 km to the south-west), the small churches of Pano Pyrgos (4.5 km to the south) and the road to the Kykkos monastery, which winds through the wildest part of the Troodos. And let's not forget the Lefka/Lefke region in the north, which is very close by.
