Some forty kilometers from the capital, this town stands at the confluence of the Daugava and Ogre rivers, from which it takes its name. Already popular with local city dwellers, tourism is increasingly focused on foreign visitors to Latvia. The tourist office provides visitors with maps and explanations of the parks, as well as walks along the Ogre and in the Blue Mountains Park. Quiet in winter, Ogre offers snow-covered landscapes and seaside resort services in summer. And Ogre is only a 45-minute train ride from Rīga.
