Built close to the Lithuanian border, where the Memele and Musa rivers join to form the Lielupe. Bauska grew up in the shadow of the castle built by the Livonian order to defend the Lithuanian border and secure the trade route to Rīga. In 1609, it received a seal from Friedrich Kettler, Duke of Courland and Semigalle. The ruins of the old castle are the main attraction. From the 22 m high fortified tower on a hill, you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the entire region. For more information, visit the Museum of Art and Regional Studies.
