In this small mountain town is the ancient Benedictine abbey of Maria de Swabia, now called castle and founded by Queen Marguerite of Navarre. She was then offered to Admiral Nelson in 1799 for his help during the rebellion movement in Naples. Now transformed into a sumptuous palace, the abbey is still inhabited by the descendants of the hero of Trafalgar.
