What makes a porte-pot - a bistro, boutique, wine bar or takeaway - is its owner. At Les Grandes Caves de Perrache, opened in 1874 and Lyon's last porte-pot, it's the adorable Victor who welcomes us in a friendly atmosphere. You can stop off for a glass of wine, eat by reservation, taste truffles in December, and be guided through a selection of 500 to 600 bottles. From Bugey to Beaujolais, from Burgundy to the Rhône Valley, the region is in the spotlight. Champagnes, spirits, rums, whiskies, cognacs and Belgian beers.

Ce n'est pas tous les jours qu'on est accueilli par un caviste qui joue du saxophone (je suis venu sur un moment creux :))! Et ce n'est pas le seul mérite de cette cave, j'ai trouvé une sélection qui sort un peu des sentiers battus au sens où on sent qu'il s'agit de ce qu'aime le caviste, avec de très jolies pépites, et surtout des prix qui m'ont étonné pour Lyon.
En tout cas, j'ai passé un très bon moment à échanger, je reviendrai assurément!

We stopped for a glass of wine in the shop and ending up staying longer than planned. Very friendly, knowledgeable owner who gave us advice for the best restaurants in the area along with our wine. Recommended.

Victor est une personne exceptionnelle, un homme comme on envoie plus de nos jours.
Un caviste simple et sincère, avec le cœur sur la main et des conseils minutieux.
Cela fait deux ans que nous venons ici. C’est toujours une découverte à chaque fois.
Les saveurs sont décuplées grâce à ce monsieur.
Il faut croire que son meilleur cépage, s’appelle la gentillesse.
