BISTROT L'HORLOGE

Bar and caf
4.8/5
4 reviews

This cafe-bar-restaurant surmounted by a clock, which makes the corner between the course of Estienne-d'Orves and the rue Breteils, has a beautiful terrace that attracts a fairly eclectic clientele. You can also install inside, but beware, there are not many places. Since its opening in 2013, the owners (of the café opposite, The Pointu) have been able to renew the place and its kitchen. In addition to having a drink (an antifungal cocktail, a mojito, or a glass of wine - the original card, which is also to be discovered inside the bistro!), you can eat it (tapas, pork plates) or eat it more consistently, and very well: tender and bone bones, seven-hour roasted lamb and vegetables, or the famous slut salad with its gizzards and poultry livers. Slate changes regularly! The heart of! is the perfect place for your palate! A pretty little address. Note that evenings are often organized with neighbors across the way during the summer!

BAR DES MARAICHERS

Bar and caf
5/5
1 review

In this neighbourhood bistro in La Plaine, there's no fuss: you simply come to drink a cup, chat with friends, listen to live music in the evening when a concert is scheduled... The decor is sober, even atypical, with this reproduction of the "Last Supper". On the music side, behind the small stage, Brassens, Brel and Ferré are at home here and rub shoulders with some jazzy flights of fancy ... For a long time called "Chez Hassan", this bar has however had a new owner for a few years now. He regularly organises concerts with local artists. This bar is anchored in the popular culture of Marseille and is notably quoted in the famous Marseille trilogy of Izzo.

LE PELLE MÊLE

Jazz club
4.5/5
2 reviews

Last bastion of the once flourishing Marseille jazz scene, the Pelle Mêle is located a stone's throw from the Old Port and gathers from Tuesday to Saturday a public of jazz and live music lovers. The program is rich and varied every week with an open mic night every Friday (reservation strongly advised). It is a beautiful place of night life where you can discover local and international artists that you will only ask to follow afterwards. In the evening, accompany your drinks with quesadillas or cuttlefish in parsley.

CINEMA LES VARIÉTÉS

Cinema
3.8/5
4 reviews

A place devoted to entertainment for 150 years, this historic cinema was first called Le Casino (1857) then Les Folies marseillaises (1878) before the construction of the Théâtre des Variétés in 1887, of which the facade sculpted by the architect Joseph Letz remains today. After an uncertain year 2016 and three years of struggle following the loss in 2013 of its Art et Essai label, the future of cinema was shaky, but finally the commercial court ruled and it was taken over by Jean Mizrahi (YMAGIS). Major renovations were undertaken in 2019 and it is now as good as new, while retaining its cachet. Renewed comfort, modernity, a major historical cinema to be supported for sure. Programming of major, alternative and documentary films. The culture of Marseilles is partly played out here.

The tea lovers meeting on Longchamp Boulevard. Teavora, in addition to offering a wide selection of teas from the 4 corners of the world, offers an exotic and relaxing atmosphere. As soon as we get there, we're invited to take off his shoes and move on the sand. Then choose three different atmospheres, including the Berber tent, but also a décor of the islands or an appointment in India in a tastefully decorated room. Almost 80 teas to taste, infusions, tisanes, but it's not just hot… fresh fruit juice and smoothies too. Home pastries will accompany this moment of softness. For lunch, we'll opt for salads or salads. You can enjoy a trip to the city center.

DANCETERIA

Club
3/5
2 reviews

The name is directly inspired by a mythical New York place. The atmosphere resembles the best small electro clubs in European capitals. We are here in the Opera district, but at Danceteria, nothing to do with the atmosphere of the surrounding clubs. Relaxed mentality, love of music, peace of mind and conviviality between dancers, that's all that counts. A welcome concept in a city that is still too old-fashioned in its way of partying. Thanks to places like the Chapiteau or Danceteria, Marseille is in tune with the times. Famous DJs are programmed and announced regularly on social networks. Local and international scene.

The pure charm of American pool circles is there. Once you have passed the staircase, you enter a lair of regulars. 14 billiard tables (French, American and blackball billiards). You can also have a drink with your colleagues. Today, novices are welcome with introductory sessions during the week for them.

LA FRÉQUENCE

Cocktail bar
Closed - Open to 16h00

Halfway between the Palais Longchamp and the Réformés, a new bar has been opened to liven up the pleasant boulevard Longchamp. A beautiful, wide terrace for a new establishment opened by a young team eager to offer a place where having a drink rhymes with conviviality between friends and tasting aperitif platters on the go. It's a great concept and a real hit with a young clientele who have become fans of the restaurant's excellent cocktails. At lunchtime, we serve a burrata, a sandwich of the day and a few simple suggestions on the slate. A friendly, smiling welcome, a fine wine list and live music at weekends.

CANCAN MARSEILLE

Club

Le Cancan or New Cancan, depending on the name, is THE reference for gay clubbing in Marseille. Founded in 1991 by Michel Piacenza, it's just a stone's throw from the Canebière, and attracts a gay and gay-friendly clientele every Saturday in a supercharged atmosphere. In the 1970s, the creator of Le Cancan created one of the city's first openly gay bars. A pioneer in his field, the club is now well accepted as the only gay club in the city (surprising for France's second-largest city).

LE TRENDY

Club

The Trendy, in agreement with its very evocative name, is a stone's throw from the Old Port, which offers a trendy decor, a rather chic atmosphere and a resolutely design framework. Hi-tech but warm, the space offers evolutionary lighting, LED panels and plasma screens creating a special atmosphere and recalling that we are here in the very festive universe of the night. Under venerable vaults, install on our sofas and then déhanchez on the latest sounds mixed by the DJ.

DEÏA COFFEE & KITCHEN

Coffee shop and tea room

Trendy coffee shop in the Opera district. A café that has become one of the most fashionable in the city. A neat decoration and in the air of time, plunging plants, light wood, space and a cosy feeling which already conquered more than one curious. Deïa's program includes coffee specialties, lattes (including amazing beet and charcoal colored ones), food from breakfast to lunch and the possibility of brunches all day long. Bowls, salads, healthy sandwiches, it's well done and totally in tune with the times. An address to discover and to adopt without delay. The only regret is that the atmosphere is a bit too "influencer" of the clientele, more busy taking pictures than having a good time.

HOLIS'TEA

Coffee shop and tea room

At the bottom of the Cours Franklin-Roosevelt, a discreet address that deserves to be known, a few steps from the Réformés. Behind an attractive frontage, we enter a rather surprising café, with its counter and the smiling welcome of the owner, then a room in enfilade where you can enjoy your coffee, tea or pastry on a sofa or on cushions. A Zen place, which offers teas and herbal teas, ayurvedic infusions and homemade blends, some with CBD. On the pastry side, gluten-free, vegan, classic, all homemade by the chef, just like the quiches and cakes served for lunch. We like to spend a relaxing and greedy moment there.
