Like every year at the beginning of summer, the FID Marseille, International Documentary Festival of Marseille, will allow you to discover a very large program with more than a hundred films taking place in different places of the city: cinemas, theaters, libraries, art galleries... This competition of national and international productions presents world premieres of fiction and documentary works. The FID Lab, which supports international co-production, also organizes a number of off-site screenings and training workshops.

The Marseille Operettas and musical theatre contest is a national and international competition organized by the municipality every year. It is open without distinction to all French or foreign performers. With an international reputation, he promotes new talent in the field of opera and musical theatre. Don't hesitate to discover them, because the tests are public. Candidates may present themselves either as soloist or duo in one of the following three categories: song, fantasy, musical comedy (without microphone). If they wish, candidates registered in the "duettistes" category will also be able to present themselves individually, subject to a second registration file. Candidates will propose at the time of registration, five pieces or pairs of their choice, of which at least two will belong to the French directory: a piece or duo for the eliminatory test, two pieces or pairs for the semi-final, two pieces or pairs for the final. So if you're telling you to take this wonderful competition or just to come and listen to the tests will take place for the éliminatoires, March 1 st at 17 p. m., the half-finals, March 2nd at 15 p. m. and the final, March 3rd at 15 p. m. The Théâtralia is a week entirely dedicated to theatre in all its forms (dance, music, photo), open to a wide audience in the heart of downtown Marseille, the Centre Bourse. During this week devoted to live show, the theatres and artists of Marseille will present excerpts from their creations and the programming of their upcoming season. On the menu: exhibition, animation, reading, workshops, meetings, exchanges, debates and discussions. A place of convivial passage for a festive cultural event where you wouldn't expect it.

This year the Printemps des Poètes pays tribute to the African French-speaking poetry relatively unknow among the general public. From Kateb Yacine to U Tam'si or Senghor just to name a few famous, African poetry deserves to be heard and takes a pivotal role in this 19th edition. Productions that are characterised by an orality from the tradition of the griot, originally from sub-Saharan culture and which remains to be discovered. As poetry is borderless, it's beyond the African continent that we will hear the poetic works from other regions, from the West indies to Guyana, via Madagascar and Mayotte.

This platform for the young contemporary creation accompanies young artists and develops a work around new scenic writings. Each year, Komm'n act offers the public to discover and share the artistic offers of the new generation. Several days of meetings and exchanges to share the “views” and to open perspectives.

Festival Poc invites us in the heart of Marseille and invests several districts of the city for three days to make us discover galleries and artists of all kinds: painters, graffiti artists, sculptors, plastic artist, designers... An artistic marathon active day and night with 62 places from the gallery to the restaurant via the artist workshop. Open days to the general public to see, feel, exchange and be amazed around the work of more than 120 artists! 3 days of entertainment, for adults and children, with performances, initiation workshops, games, concerts, street shows, treasure hunts, etc...

Revive through this exhibition the great adventure of the Suez Canal. Documents, archives and photographs will reflect this defining chapter of our modern history, decisive in world trade and determining for the port of Marseille.

Since January 2017 and under the aegis of the town hall of the 1st and 7th districts, the "Sundays of the Canebière" have been held on the most famous avenue of the Phocéenne city. Entirely pedestrianized, it is invaded by a crowd of curious people, a multitude of animations, groups, parades and becomes a market of local products and crafts, a record fair and much more. Each month, the edition adopts a different theme that delights young and old alike. A really nice and successful initiative to revitalize the city centre on Sundays.

The Association for the Active Promotion of Books organizes a monthly day of antique and modern books and documents on the first and third Saturdays of each month (only the first Saturdays in July and August), bringing together about fifteen professional booksellers. Old books, first editions, illustrated books, but also documentary books in the most varied domains up to comic books and detective books of collection.

The prestigious travelling biennial of contemporary art is packing its bags for a few months in Marseille for its 13th edition. Created in the early 1990s by a Dutch art historian, this biennial event takes place in different European cities. An unmissable event for all art lovers who will not fail to come to Marseille for the occasion. A dedicated place is open on the Canebière for all information and for certain events held there. The program is to be discovered online and is divided into three interconnected axes, mixing multiple actors, students, residents and artists.
