Since the 1970s, the village of Moncontour has included the communes of Saint-Chartres, Messais and Ouzilly-Vignolles. A "Station Verte" since 2017, the commune is committed to combining leisure, sustainable development and nature. Lovely walks can be enjoyed along the Sente Divine or the Sentier des Lavoirs. The village is dominated by its keep, a masterpiece of the Middle Ages dating from the 11th and 14th centuries, whose summit offers a superb panorama of the Dive valley. Moncontour also boasts a 10-hectare lake and a leisure center offering a wide range of activities, including water-skiing! Don't miss the farmers' market or the guinguette evening in summer.
