Northern Vienna, Dangé-Saint-Romain is crossed by the river with the same name as the department. Its inhabitants are the Dangéens, a name that appears in 1057 in its Latin form. On the royal route between Paris and Spain, it is the point of passage for many travellers, but does not know any bloody clashes. Its population, composed of notables and craftsmen, can thus concentrate on viticulture. The fairs and comices as well as the mills (Charçay, Surin and Les Trois Moulins), signs of the village's production, are testimonies of a calm story over the water.
