Built on a rocky spur overlooking the Clouère valley, the village of Château-Larcher boasts a rich medieval heritage: the church of Notre-Dame and Saint-Cyprien, and the ruins of the fortified castle in the main street. The enigmatic and rare Lanterne des Morts (Lantern of the Dead) stands in the cemetery. The commune is also classified as a "Petite Cité de Caractère". Attractive footpaths allow you to explore the surrounding area, including the Grotte aux fées and the Arlait dolmens. The commune also boasts a fishing pond with an area for camper vans. A major medieval fair is held in September.
