Vouillé owes its reputation to the battle of the same name in the spring of 507, when the Franks defeated the Visigoths. The latter, led by King Alaric II, had to abandon their lands to the victors, the troops of King Clovis. While the exact location of the battle is still a matter of debate, the fact remains that it is what made, and still makes, the commune famous. It was a key stage in Clovis's reunification of Gaul. Today, thanks to a mobile application, you can discover the medieval town center and its built heritage: Sainte-Radegonde church, town gate, dovecote, lime kilns..
