Its origins date back to the end of the 13th century. A nephew of Louis XIV's minister, Charles Colbert, Marquis of Torcy and Marshal to the King, played an important role in the life of the commune. He planned to create a porcelain factory in 1784, but this project was interrupted by the Revolution.
