With its school and restaurant in the heart of the town, the commune of Courgenard is a dynamic rural commune, run by several associations. It has 500 inhabitants and a beautiful church, the church of Saint-Martin-de-Tours, known for its murals. This church houses a Tale of the Three Dead and the Three Alive, a rare mural depicting three young gentlemen in a cemetery. They are called by three dead people, reminding them of the brevity of life and the importance of the salvation of their souls. The two choir windows, dating from the 16th century, have been restored several times. But perhaps the most remarkable is the canopy of the Crucifixion with an astonishing representation of the Trinity, a fusion of three faces.
