This village of less than 100 inhabitants is known to shelter the old forges known as Vibraye, because they belonged to the family who owned the nearby Vibraye forest. Created by the Marquis of Vibraye, Jacques III Hurault, they allowed to valorize the wood and the iron ore present in his forest. The proximity of the Braye river, whose water is brought by a large diversion canal, was a determining factor because it allowed to create energy to operate the machines of the workshops. Under the Ancien Régime, certain industrial activities were for the nobles an extension of the agricultural activities carried out on their estates. Thus they were famous master glassmakers or masters of the forge.
